How to prepare yourself for MBA entrance?

The XAT (Xavier Aptitude Test), a national-level management entrance exam, is administered by XLRI, Jamshedpur for admission to MBA/PGDM programmes. XLRI and 10 other XAMI member institutions are among the over 1,000 B-schools that accept XAT scores for admission to their post-graduate management programmes. The XAT question bank consists of 100 Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) on decision-making, verbal and logical ability, quantitative ability and data interpretation, and general knowledge. Male applicants for the XLRI PGDM-BM programme typically score between 95 and 92 percentiles on the XAT.



The XAT is challenging for a number of reasons. Because of the XAT's distinctive computer-adaptive format, you cannot skip a challenging question and come back to it later; instead, you must select an answer and continue.

All of the significant areas for Verbal & Logical Ability, Quantitative Ability & Data Interpretation, and General Knowledge are included in the XAT curriculum. There is no curriculum for the special section on decision-making. Preparation for the XAT exam is based on questions from prior years. Other essential topics in each of the three remaining XAT subjects' respective fields are covered. English grammar, reading comprehension, and verbal ability are all included in verbal & logical ability. Topics covered in the Quantitative Ability & Data Interpretation exam include arithmetic, algebra, geometry, trigonometry, set theory, and other related subjects. Additionally, there are themes in the GK part on literature, business, art & entertainment, sports, inventions, innovation, the world's economy, politics, culture, society, and other topics.

For business school admissions, the CAT and XAT 2023  exam syllabus consists of four sections and lasts for around three and a half hours.

This analytical writing test assesses your ability to communicate and think critically.

In a part on integrated thinking, students' ability to analyse information presented in various formats and grasp facts is assessed.

The XAT test is given online, and there are 100 multiple-choice questions (MCQs) that must be answered in 180 minutes. The XAT colleges exam pattern, however, was altered in 2022. The XAT test has a sectional time restriction. Therefore, applicants are recommended to keep up a good pace in all four sections so they may finish the paper within the allotted time. Each successful effort receives one mark, while a wrong attempt leads to -0.25 marks.

An assessment of students' quantitative reasoning skills and mathematical literacy is conducted. 

The verbal reasoning component includes tests of reading comprehension, editing skills, and the ability to comprehend written arguments.

For a number of reasons, the XAT exam is difficult. The unique computer-adaptive style of the XAT prevents you from skipping a difficult question and returning to it later; instead, you must choose an answer and move on.

The XAT exam is definitely difficult but consistent efforts and smart work will help you achieve your goal.
